What is the difference between the Civic Association and the Maintenance Corporation?
The Middletown Village Civic Association is a group of dedicated
residents seeking to make Middletown Village a great place to live
through special projects, events and advocacy. Membership in the Civic
Association is purely voluntary.
The Maintenance Corporation is run by
the developer of the neighborhood, Lee Ramunno, for the purpose of
maintaining common open spaces. The yearly Maintenance Corporation fee
is mandatory, and part of every homeowner's deed. The maintenance
corporation will be dissolved once the Town of Middletown takes over
maintenance of all residential open space in the neighborhood.
When are yearly maintenance corporation fees due and who do I contact to find out my balance?
As of Spring, 2006 the developer of Middletown Village was no longer charging annual maintenance corporation fees because the Town of Middletown has taken over maintenance responsibility of the neighborhood. However, if you are buying or selling a house, please contact Lee Ramunno or his staff at (302) 656-9400 to check for outstanding balances or fees due at closing.
How do I become a member of the Middletown Village Civic Association?
New members are invited to join the MVCA at any time. Membership is completely voluntary and runs from January 1st to December 31st of each year. To become a MVCA member, complete and return a MVCA Membership Form with $10 to:
Sabina Luck (MVCA treasurer)
366 East Harvest Lane
Middletown, DE 19709
(Please make your $10 check payable to: MVCA)
Who do I call if my street light is out?
The Town of Middletown Electric Department maintains street lights in Town. Please call them at (302) 378-9092 and be sure to have information about the exact location of the light, including street address if applicable.
There is an abandoned car parked on the street or in the public parking area. Who can I call?
Overflow parking in the townhomes section is for short-term use only! Cars should not be permanently parked there. If you suspect that a vehicle has been abandoned, or has an expired tag, please report it to the Town. Please have the make and model of the car and its exact location handy when you call.
When is trash day?
Residential trash is collected in Middletown Village on Tuesday and Friday. Trash should be placed on the curb no earlier than 6 pm on Monday and Thursday nights. Please be sure to securely tie all trash bags to ensure that litter does not escape onto our streets. Please note that yard waste will not be collected by the regular trash trucks! The Town collects this for mulching on Fridays of each week.
Can I recycle?
Yes! There are a number of ways to recycle in Delaware. You can take cans, bottles, newspapers, plastic, junk mail and cardboard to any Recycle Delaware center for free. Recycle Delaware centers are located in most major shopping centers in Middletown, and at the Transfer Station in Townsend. You can also pay a small fee for curbside recycling. For more information, visit the Delaware Solid Waste Authority website: www.dswa.com.
Does Middletown collect yard waste?
Yes! The Town of Middletown collects yard waste, including grass clippings, shrubs and trees, every Friday. Woody material should be tied. Grass clippings can be placed on the street. Please do not place grass clippings on the street before a heavy rain - clippings will wash into our ponds and contribute to algae problems in the summer.
There is a pot hole on my street. Who do I call?
If your street has final paving, the Town of Middletown is responsible for repair of pot holes. Please call the Streets Department at (302) 378-5140 to report. If your road does not yet have final paving, the responsibility to fix the road lies with the developer. Please report the pot hole to Lee Ramunno at (302) 656-9400.
